SANDS OF TIME


 
Lynne Holmes successfully released her debut album; Sands of Time in Feb 2000 with the pseudonym of Desert Rose when she was signed up with a London based record company, Passion Music. The album was released internationally from London and after 12 years it is still selling internationally in more than 20 countries. The album is a unique world music interpretation of indigenous Khoisan culture and other indigenous cultures throughout the world. The single, San Song reached no.3 on the top 20 in South Africa and remained on the charts for 4 months. The album was rated one of the top 20 albums in South Africa in 2001.

 

 

 
 
 

Deep Relaxation Music (MED001)



Deep Relaxation Music was released in Dec. 2005. It has been endorsed as an aid by psychotherapists and healing clinics to induce a state of deep relaxation within the listener, enabling co-operation and healing. The composer, Lynne Holmes, has studied the different kinds of music, its frequencies and scientific impact on the mind and body of the listener. The music was specifically composed to induce deep relaxation and a state of healing. It has become a best seller within the local Health Spa industry in Cape Town. Heavenly Music (HEV001)


                                      
Heavenly Music is an exotic soundscape of Asian melodies and instruments, richly woven into a delicate and colourful fabric. With angelic voices soaring above the epic themes, one’s soul is transported and uplifted in a profound way. Heavenly Music, released in Dec. 2005, has received many accolades as a combination of movie theme music and movement sound and rhythms. It has provenpopular with Thai Chi, Yoga and other Movement therapy practitioners. Alternatively it can be used purely as a spiritually uplifting experience.

 

 

Spirit of Africa (DRM001)

 

Spirit of Africa can best be described as a classical interpretation of African World Music. The album is a unique compilation of music where ancient cries, drum beats, Bushmen instrumentation and African Cora meet the mastery and musical eloquence of classical orchestration. Pops Mohamed and Lynne Holmes combine their talents to create this unique compilation. Spirit of Africa reflects the human challenges born out of a need for survival yet captures the message of hope, beauty, love and tolerance that runs through the veins of the African continent. Endorsed by Cape Town Tourism and Archbishop Desmond Tutu it is a brilliant compilation of music, filled with hope, born out of struggle, composed with compassion and mixed with a love for Africa. It was released on 27 Nov. 2007.

 

The Prayer (DRM002)


The Prayer is a musical collaboration between Desert Rose’s classical world music and ancient Sufi chanting. The album was released on 24 May 2008 to a large South African market of spiritual and relaxation music lovers.  The album brings a new sound as it introduces South Africa’s leading Arabic world music vocalist, Yusuf Ganief, combining ancient Sufi chanting within a classical world music context, offering music lovers sounds that they have never heard or experienced before. The first song, Remembrance, has become an international hit in the spiritual and healing world music genres. The Prayer is now distributed throughout Turkey to 1000 music shops as well as to selected outlets in the UK, Europe and Malaysia.

  


Hymn of the Soul (DRM003)

 
Hymn of the Soul is a musical journey that will lead you to your deepest and innermost sanctuary, celebrating and discovering the beauty of your own soul. The classical eloquence of the music takes us out of chaos and into a divine order and harmony. This musical signature that instantly transforms the spirit of listeners to a state of relaxation can be recognized in all of the music of Desert Rose. The poised sound of piano and guitar leads to the joyful surrender to the Hymn of your own Soul. The CD was released on 1 Nov. 2008   



The Awakening (DRM004)


 
The Awakening Album has been hailed by critics as a fresh new sound that combines the signature of Desert Rose with diverse ancient chants. The music combines Tabla, Indian Harmonium, Spanish guitar, clarinet, piano and wind instruments with heart rendering vocals sung in ancient languages such as Aramaic, Arabic, Hebrew, and Gujarat & Urdu. The song, The Lord’s Dua, was endorsed by leaders of both Islam and Christianity including Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Shaykh Seraj Hendricks, as a symbol for interfaith harmony and commitment. The CD was released on 20 April 2009 at the international Al Ghazali Conference at the Old Mutual Centre in Pinelands, Cape Town. 



Wings of Love (DRM005)


 
Wings of Love is a follow up to the highly successful deep relaxation CD, Hymn of the Soul. A classically inspired theme that will magically transform your mood as it guides you home to your inner world. Emotive and stirring piano bathed in heavenly strings will resonate with the delicate fabric of your own soul as you soar with the Music of the Spheres and connect with your divine source. Wings of Love can open you to the possibility of healing and transformation at a deep level building a bridge of communication between the conscious and subconscious mind as you gently release blocked emotions. The CD was released on 31 October 2010.

 



Silence of the Music (DRM007)

 Silence of the Music, a musical about intercultural love between Muslim and Christian, was premiered on 23 Sep 2010 at the Baxter Theatre to standing ovations every night. Mainstream media and audiences gave the originally composed music a 5 star rating describing it as a cultural crossover masterpiece, uplifting and ground breaking. The music has swept audiences away with its soaring themes as east meets west with strings and Tabla, Spanish guitar and African rhythms. Described as a musical journey the diverse music caters for the classical lover as well as the indigenous and popular music lovers, ranging from classical Opera and haunting Gregorian chants to the soulful bliss of a Sufi prayer accompanied by Flamenco guitar and Indian Tabla.

 
 



TARIQAT – THE PATH (DRM 0010)

 

Tariqat – The Path, was officially released on 15 December 2012. The music has been described as groundbreaking as it combines ancient Sufi chants and diwans with indigenous African sounds and rhythms. Composer, Lynne, and lead vocalist, Yusuf, combines the singer’s Malaysian routes and inherited Malay melodies with classical compositions and haunting Arabic vocals. Since the release of the album Desert Rose has successfully toured and performed the music of Tariqat live to standing ovations on stages in London, Oxford, Singapore, Penang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The album was inspired by Sufi Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri and his compilation of traditional Moroccan Sufi songs of praise.


 

WELCOME THE LIGHT (DRM0011)

 
Welcome the Light is a unique fusion of the Gayatri Mantra with vocals in Sanskrit and Arabic, reflecting the Oneness of Spirituality through music. The CD was composed specifically for Desert Rose’s tour to Singapore where it was released and performed at the world renowned Esplanade Theat
